Converting Capital One Statements to Excel
When people search for a way to convert a Capital One statement, they usually have one of two quite different documents in front of them: a Capital One 360 checking or savings statement, or a statement for a Capital One credit card such as Quicksilver, Venture or SavorOne. Both can be converted with the same upload, but they are laid out differently and used for different jobs, so this page covers each in turn.
Capital One 360 Checking and Savings Statements
Capital One 360 grew out of ING Direct, which Capital One acquired in 2012, and it is still run largely as an online bank. Statements are typically delivered electronically each month rather than mailed, so the PDF in your account is usually the only copy.
A 360 statement usually shows:
- An account summary with the opening balance, total deposits, total withdrawals and the closing balance for the period.
- A transaction list with the date, a description, the amount and the balance after each item.
- Interest paid, since 360 checking and savings accounts generally pay interest, often as a single line near the end of the month.
Descriptions on 360 statements tend to be plain: deposits from employers, transfers to and from your other 360 accounts or a linked external account, debit card purchases, ATM withdrawals and Zelle payments. Transfers between your own accounts are worth watching. Moving money from 360 Checking to 360 Performance Savings shows up on both statements, and in your books it should be a transfer rather than an expense.
Capital One Credit Card Statements
A card statement answers a different question. Instead of a running bank balance, it shows what you charged, what you paid and what you owe. A Capital One card statement typically includes:
- A summary with the previous balance, payments and credits, new transactions, fees, interest charged and the new balance with the minimum payment due.
- Transactions, which may be grouped by card if there are authorized users on the account.
- Fees and interest listed separately, with year-to-date totals.
For card statements, the useful output is a column of charges and a column of payments and refunds, so you can total business spending without counting your own card payments as expenses. The credit card converter page goes into more detail on card layouts. Business owners using a Spark business card often convert statements this way to build expense reports or to categorize costs for Schedule C.
When You Still Need the PDF
Capital One's website and app generally let you download recent transactions for both bank and card accounts. That is the quickest route for the last few months. You will still need to convert the statement PDF when:
- you need a period older than the download range offers;
- the card or account has been closed or replaced;
- a client sent you their statements for bookkeeping without sharing a login;
- a mortgage lender, landlord or tax preparer wants the official monthly statement, and you want the same figures in a spreadsheet to check against it.
What You Get
- Separate Debit and Credit columns with positive numbers, ready for SUM and pivot tables.
- Dates in US month-day order and dollar amounts with currency symbols and commas removed.
- Wrapped descriptions joined into one cell.
- Multi-page and multi-month PDFs processed in one upload.
- Downloads for accounting software: QBO for QuickBooks, CSV or OFX.
Common Uses
Household budgeting across a 360 checking account and a rewards card, preparing a year of transactions for a tax return, reconciling a small business's books, and supplying recent statements for a loan or rental application. If you also have accounts with other large US banks, the Citibank and Chase guides cover their statement layouts.
Card statements from other issuers work with the credit card converter. For paper statements or a scan of an old printout, try the scanned statement converter.
Updated . Finlyzers is an independent tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Capital One. Statement layouts described here can change; always check the converted figures against your statement.

Capital One Statement to Excel Converter FAQ
Common questions about converting Capital One Statements.
Where do I find my Capital One statements?
Sign in at capitalone.com or in the Capital One app, choose the 360 account or the credit card and open its statements section. Pick the month and download the PDF. Menu names can differ between bank accounts, cards and business accounts.
Can I convert a Capital One credit card statement here?
Yes. For card statements the credit card converter page explains the layout in more detail. Purchases, fees and interest go in one column and payments and credits in another, so a card payment is not counted as spending.
Capital One lets me download transactions. Why convert the PDF?
Transaction downloads are useful for recent activity on an open account. Older periods, closed accounts and statements someone emailed you are usually only available as PDFs, and the monthly statement is the document lenders and accountants ask for.
Can I import a Capital One 360 statement into QuickBooks?
Yes. Download the QBO file from the same upload and import it into the matching account in QuickBooks Online or Desktop, or use CSV if you prefer to map the columns yourself.
